Taryn Alessandro, mixed media painter, has gained an impressive amount of exposure and recognition due to her innovate use of up-cycled materials and avant-garde approach to traditional art. Classical style painting is uniquely contemporized when harmonized with Taryn’s textural layers of found materials. Aluminum cans, sand, fabrics, glass, cardboard, jewelry, paper, etc. filter light reflections created by precious metals, iridescence, and resin for an illuminating experience unlike any other.
Taryn received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University and has studied at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, Decordova Museum School, and in Italy. Currently residing on Maui, island living inspires much of her work. Taryn has been featured in International Contemporary Masters, American Art Collector, Complex Magazine, Honolulu Museum of Art, and the Schaefer Portrait Challenge. She was voted Best Local Visual Artist numerous years in Maui Time Weekly.
