Jaclynn Sabado-Eitel

It’s hard to escape the magnitude of vibrant colors and the endless array of hues seen daily in Hawai’i. Being born and raised in Maui, Hawai’i by a painter and illustrator father, I was constantly immersed in the unique privilege of seeing Hawai’i through a  painter’s lens. To this day, I continue to look at the sky and imagine what I would mix to make the correct shade.  My style has fluctuated over 10 years of working with silkscreen as my canvas for creating wearable art and prints, to moving to painting with acrylics and India inks on a variety of surfaces.

I would describe my art as an accumulation of ideas I have while exploring nature, wandering in my back yard in Iao Valley, and attempting to surf while being awe-inspired by my many sisters who make surfing look effortless and ethereal. I enjoy focusing on concepts and creating worlds around them that are dreamy, yet encapsulate the casual easy-going nature of life in Hawai’i.
